This article discusses the relationships between Spiritism and other religious perspectives in Rio Grande do Sul in the middle of the 20th century. From the publications of the journal A Reencarnação, edited by the Federação Espírita do Rio Grande do Sul (FERGS), the perceptions of the spiritism movement organized on Catholicism and Umbanda are analyzed, examining the position and actions of Spiritism in the religious field. The analysis evidences the use of the press as an important instrument for spreading ideas and defense of spiritist ideas, as well as strategies aiming at the delimitation of frontiers and the definition of the spiritism identity in front of other forms of religion and religiosity.Downloads
