Entre cabanos e plebeus: a presença da história clássica romana na obra Motins Políticos

O presente trabalho tem como finalidade explorar aspectos da obra Motins Políticos ou história dos principais acontecimentos políticos na Província do Pará desde o ano de 1821 até 1835, do historiador Domingos Antônio Raiol, por se constituir numa abordagem essencial para o conhecimento de como intelectuais brasileiros do século XIX empregavam exemplos da história greco-romana em seus livros. Assim, embora a narrativa de Raiol fosse muito mais voltada para a descrição dos conflitos político-sociais no Pará, nela, o lugar das representações da história clássica, contudo não esteve ausente, aparecendo constantemente sob múltiplas formas, ao longo dos eventos descritos pelo autor. A partir deste pressuposto analítico, pretende-se expor algumas das várias “representações” da história greco-romana contidas nessa narrativa, para tentar entender mais profundamente as nítidas interações desses aspectos no texto de Raiol.Downloads
