Abstract

In recent centuries, the role of the Virgin Mary within the Catholic Church has undergone a substantial gradual change. From a vague evangelical reference to an eximely familiar and divine character in a way equivalent to her son, Our Lady has been receiving tributes and tributes to her name in almost the same proportion as her son. In this article we will problematize this transformation of the Immaculate under two prisms: dogmatic documents and letters, feasts in praise and iconographic and iconological representations of the Virgin.

Doutorando em História pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá, Mestre em História pela mesma, Especialista em História do Brasil pela Universidade Cândido Mendes-RJ. Graduado em História pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá (2007). Tem experiência na área de História , com ênfase em História do Brasil, História do Paraná e Patrimônio Cultural.
