Abstract

Procuramos neste texto, evidenciar a participação efetiva do segmento subalternizado nas embarcações da Flotilha de Mato Grosso (1825-1870) - marinheiros submetidos à violência sistêmica, convictos que parte dessa história não esta completa. O engajamento da maruja e aprendizes, nas Companhias de Aprendizes Marinheiros e Imperiais Marinheiros, em Mato Grosso, se revestiu do mesmo anacronismo e violência verificados na Marinha Imperial. O homem livre pobre, enjeitados, órfãos e vadios, foram as maiores vítimas. Como suporte às discussões propostas, recorremos a valiosas fontes documentais, como correspondências, relatórios provinciais e ministeriais.
