Abstract

Este artigo pretende participar da discussão sobre o lugar de africanos e descentes na História do Brasil através de uma incursão no processo de mineração ocorrido no Mato Grosso do século XVIII. Corroborar na tese de que mais que mãos de obra braçais os conhecimentos africanos participaram no processo de construção do Brasil através de suas tecnologias. Contribuir na percepção do papel desses atores sociais como sujeitos históricos que tiveram uma atuação bem mais efetiva da que lhes é atribuída. Para tal foi realizada uma análise documental produzida no, ou para, o Mato Grosso em diálogo com outras fontes escritas produzidas sobre contribuições africanas para o continente americano.
