Modernizar e normatizar a cidade: o difícil combate à criação de animais no perímetro urbano em Jacobina (1955-1959)

Abstract

O presente artigo teve por objetivo analisar a ação de combate ao hábito da população citadina de Jacobina de criar animais (como jegues, cabras, porcos e vacas) em quintais ou soltos nas ruas da cidade. Cruzando fontes como textos de jornal, fotografias, documentos da administração municipal e o Código de Posturas da cidade, e trabalhando com os pressupostos teóricos de Michel de Certeau de estratégia e tática, destacamos que durante a gestão municipal do engenheiro agrônomo Orlando Oliveira Pires (1955-1959) houve um processo de recrudescimento no combate a criação de animais no perímetro urbano. Por outro lado, apontamos que a cidade configurava-se como um espaço de relações de forças, distante da submissão ao ordenamento e a estética do desenho urbano articulado pelos dispositivos que buscavam normatizar as ruas.
