Abstract

Para compreendermos as relações sociais tecidas em consonância com a dinâmica de banquetes (symposia), é preciso atentar a algumas particularidades sobre a festividade e seus participantes. Identificada como figura recorrente em banquetes, as hetáirai ("cortesãs") são elementos importantes para apontarmos as trocas específicas ocorridas durante os banquetes. Este artigo possui a pretensão de indicar sua dinâmica neste espaço de frequência e suas relações afins, além de analisar este circunscrito espaço de trânsito e ação. Como parte importante para a apreciação do tema, serão apresentados um breve comentário sobre a sua expressão imagética e as concepções e considerações a respeito de estudos de gênero que tentam compor um olhar sobre o feminino na História e em particular sobre as cortesãs na Atenas do século V e IV a.C.
