Abstract

O presente trabalho propõe-se a analisar os vestígios encontrados no santuário da deusa Ártemis em Brauron, localizado no litoral leste da península grega. O estudo busca entender os atributos da deusa ligados à aspectos da vida feminina, como a guarda e a iniciação das jovens na vida adulta e na proteção nos partos. O artigo se propõe a combinar os atributos já característicos e conhecidos sobre esta deusa com o conteúdo das evidências arqueológicas aqui analisadas, entendendo principalmente como seu culto é relacionado aos ritos de transição e aos momentos importantes da vivência feminina. Para isso, faz-se necessário entender as relações entre cultura material e a mitologia, possibilitando perceber as possibilidades de uso das fontes arqueológicas no estudo do panteão e da Mitologia Grega.
