Life and death of a poor woman: transforming agents of urban space?

This article aims to demonstrate the synchronous life trajectory between a poor community and its leader in Recife. Through this report, an analysis is made to clarify the socio-urban transformations which resulted from the urban intervention undergone by the community in 2010. It results in inferences about the formation of the city's urban space and its relations with poor citizens. Oral history was used as methodology. The memories and life histories of ex-residents was used as sources. The concepts of "tactics" and "strategy" in Michel de Certeau were used to operationalize the analyzes. This event has set in motion social actors, whose actions and reactions are neither uniform nor can be predicted or controlled, but "fabricate" identities, move borders, and indefinitely continue to map the city in the ceaseless movement of history.
