History. Art. Writing for youAbstract
This article is part of the PhD thesis entitled Lídia Baís: Images of Female Transgression in History (1920-1940), still in the process of writing. The aim is to analyze, understand and problematize the process of silencing and hiding women in history, as well as in the plastic arts. Understanding what determines this female concealment in Western art is the primary concern of this study. In the second moment we intend to analyze the mechanisms of resistance and resignification of the woman being through the production of self-portraits. We understand that the production of self-portraits in the arts for women has a sense of resistance when they use it to resignify and rewrite their stories, as well as use it as a process of self-recognition.
