O Debate de Fustel de Coulanges e Theodor Mommsen Acerca da Alsácia-Lorena e as Tendências Interpretativas da Guerra Franco-Prussiana

O presente texto pretende analisar a discussão entre dois historiadores consagrados da cena europeia oitocentista, Fustel de Coulanges e Theodor Mommsen, acerca da verdadeira nacionalidade do território da Alsácia-Lorena: francesa ou alemã. A partir de excertos traduzidos de tal debate, pretende-se, em um primeiro momento, historicizar a documentação, expondo o contexto político de produção, ou seja, a Guerra Franco-Prussiana, e seu contexto editorial, resgatando as disputas entre alguns dos principais jornais europeus da época: o La Perseveranza, o Il Secolo e a Revue des Deux Mondes. Em seguida, é construído um argumento em favor da tese de que as grandes linhas interpretativas acerca da Guerra Franco-Prussiana encontradas durante o século XX e começo do XXI foram, de certo modo, já elaboradas sincronicamente ao conflito. Com isso, busca-se mostrar as imbricações epistemológicas entre nacionalismo e historiografia.Downloads
