Abstract

In this article we propose guidelines for the identification and classification of a Vernacular Landscape, closer to Latin American realities, more specifically the Brazilian case. Research methodologies in Cultural Landscape consolidated for a longer time in the American and British context, notably the Landscape Character Assessment (SWANWICK, 2002) and classification based on the expertise of the National Park Service (MCLELLAND, 1999) are used as basis. Finally, relying on internal reflections and authors such as J.B Jackson (1970), Robert Riley (1987) and Frank and Yamaki(2021) about the Vernacular Landscape. For this, the article will provide fieldwork operation guidelinesas well as general procedures for identification and evaluation, summarized in the proposal of a regional synthesis and evaluation checklists.
