Abstract

O incentivo a uma melhor relação entre os moradores de áreas de risco deveria ser tomado como uma importante medida não estrutural de prevenção de desastres socioambientais. Ainda que este tema esteja ganhando espaço nas discussões governamentais e acadêmicas, ainda é pouco investigado no sentido de entender sua contribuição para redução de danos humanos. Este estudo foi desenvolvido com o objetivo de compreender a constituição do capital social em comunidades moradoras em áreas de risco de deslizamentos em Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brasil. A análise foi elaborada sob duas perspectivas: a primeira, focada às características da população e a segunda, voltada aos espaços agregadores, que poderiam contribuir para o fortalecimento do capital social. Os resultados reforçam a importância de incluir outras dimensões para avaliar a população em risco de desastre.
