Abstract

The text deals with issues related to the orientation of public funding from CNPq to Science and Technology in Brazil, with emphasis on the perspective of mission-oriented research. For that, official documents of the agency are analyzed, which allow to identify and contextualize this perspective. This implies recognizing the importance of prioritizing themes of national scope, but it also calls into question the contribution of the human and social sciences, especially Geography, in this context, given the way in which such a policy has been implemented.

Olga Lucia Castreghini de Freitas, Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR)

Possui graduação em Geografia pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho - Presidente Prudente (1984), mestrado em Geografia pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho- Rio Claro (1989), doutorado em Geografia (Geografia Humana) pela Universidade de São Paulo (2001) e pós-doutorado pela Université Paris 1- Panthéon-Sorbonne, (2007-2008). É professora Titular aposentada do Departamento de Geografia da Universidade Federal do Paraná e professora sênior dos Programas de Pós-Graduação em Geografia e em Planejamento Urbano da mesma instituição. Pesquisadora do CNPQ e do INCT/Observatório das Metrópoles. Tem experiência na área de Geografia, com ênfase em Geografia Urbano-metropolitana e em Geografia Industrial, em especial tratando da indústria automobilística. Atualmente atua nos seguintes temas: metropolização do espaço; metrópole e região metropolitana; a conformação metropolitana de Curitiba; estudos comparados no âmbito metropolitano.
