Greenhouses offer better conditions for growing lettuce, but different colors of plastic cover in the environments can interfere with the development of the crop. The objective was to study the behavior of climatic variables in different environments in the development of lettuce cultivars. The average air temperature was not influenced by the environment, nor by the type of plastic covering. The relative humidity of the environment with a blue plastic cover was lower compared to the other protected environment and in the open field. The average solar radiation in the environment with a blue and transparent plastic cover was 40.1% and 51.8% of the radiation obtained in an environment without cover (open field), respectively. The reference evapotranspiration inside the greenhouses with the blue and transparent covers were, respectively, 51.3% and 57.6% of the estimated for the open field. The environment with transparent plastic cover is more suitable for the Luara cultivar.
