Diagnosis leaf in mandarin ‘Satsuma Okitsu’ submitted to selenium application

The element Selenium has been used in current studies in the field of nutritional medicine, however studies are needed to assess the behavior of selenium dosages and nutritional interferences under the development of tangerine. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the leaf nutritional contents of Satsuma cv. 'Okitsu' (Citrus unshiu Marcovitch) mandarin trees submitted to the application of increasing doses of selenium, via leaves and soil. The experimental design was in randomized blocks with five replications with three plants per plot, evaluating the central plant. The treatments used were control (water) and the concentrations 10, 20 and 40 mg L-1 of sodium selenite, applied by spraying on the crown of the plant (10cup, 20cup and 40cup) and on the soil in the canopy projection (10soil, 20soil and 40soil). Leaf sampling was performed according to the modified Malavolta methodology. The total levels of macronutrients and micronutrients were analyzed. The application of Selenium via leaves at a concentration of 10 and 20 mg L-1provided better nutritional values in 'Satsuma Okitsu' mandarin.
