The objective of this study was to compare a preliminary survey of Heteroptera taxa between a Eucalyptus plantation and a natural forest to classify the insects as pests or natural enemies. The collections were monthly, carried out using Malaise traps installed in two spots of the monoculture and two in the natural forest. Both stands were located in Barra do Choça, Bahia State, Brazil. The insects were identified at the family level, the faunistic indexes were estimated (richness, constancy, dominance, and abundance), and the abundance was correlated with climatic factors. As a result, 39 bugs were found, with Lygaeidae and Miridae being the most frequent. There was no significant correlation between environmental factors and insect abundance. The eucalyptus area showed higher biodiversity compared to the native forest. This study is unprecedented in Southwestern Bahia, contributing to advancing knowledge of local biodiversity.
