Abstract

This article aims to present preliminary considerations about the phenomenon of menstrual precariousness ("poverty") and its possible relationship with what Anthropology and other social sciences understand as "suffering". It is based on the following research question: "to what extent can menstrual precariousness be understood as social suffering?". For this, initially there is a historical reconstruction regarding the control of the woman's body and menstruation and its related technologies. Menstrual precariousness is conceptualized, following the marks of social suffering as a theory to interrelate the problems, seeking to bring them closer to reality. As a form of preliminary conclusion, it is understood that yes, menstrual precariousness can be understood within the scope of suffering, so that it becomes a social problem, to be fought collectively.
