CALL FOR SUBMISSION OF PAPERS

DOSSIER:

"FRONTIERS, REGIONAL INTEGRATION AND PARADIPLOMACY"

The Nation-state no longer has the same exclusive and traditional role it used to have in international relations, an environment that has gradually been occupied by non-state economic actors, social movements and, above all, by subnational entities. This dynamic relationship has initiated a new demand, new opportunities and new challenges that point to an expansion of the international insertion focus of these new actors, acting in different areas and in different forums of discussions, with specific and articulated interests, generating a new geography of power. Cross-border phenomena, added to a more reified view of the State, occupy the agendas of the known regional integration processes and, at the same time, indicate an important area of research and empirical evidence of international relations: the interaction in border regions.

Border relations tend to build their own dynamic, where cities, states, provinces and departments, oftentimes displaced from the central attention of States Parties, build close ties, trying to promote a greater level of interdependence with other social and political spaces, presenting decentralizing trends, with greater levels of capacity for complementarity and, even, competitiveness in international markets.

In this context, the Dossier on FRONTIERS, REGIONAL INTEGRATION AND PARADIPLOMACY aims to present, criticize and receive, from empirical perspectives and experiences, the debate on international relations, regional integration processes and paradiplomacy in the border regions. The dossier will collect unpublished articles that contribute in an original way to the debate and to a growing field of study, taking into account, above all, the interdisciplinary field that makes up this debate.

Deadline: August 14th, 2017.

The dossier publication must happen until December 2017.

The editorial team requests that the authors, when submitting their texts, be sure to register in the system the title in English and the respective abstract of the article.

The dossier organization is part of the Jean Monnet Chair - UFGD, coordinated by the professors of the International Relations Course at UFGD Tomaz Espósito Neto and Henrique Sartori de Almeida Prado.
